High-tech filtration technology

Premium Solutions for Polyester Fiber Filtration

Our filtration solutions for polyester fiber production deliver optimized performance by applying a balanced filtration concept enabling long on-stream life at reduced operating costs.

Raw Materials

Filtration of the raw materials prior to commencing the esterification process allows for a cleaner polymerization operation. The Pall Profile II polypropylene cartridge filters and Nexis CoLD Melt fiber filters use patented technology to effectively remove contamination and facilitate efficient polymerization. Terephthalic acid (TPA), ethylene glycol (EG), catalysts such as Sb2O3, and other additives including titanium dioxide (TiO2) must be rid of particulates and agglomerations before forming the slurry to avoid negative impacts during the process including plugging of the final polymer filter, short pack life, high spin breaks and reduced fiber strength. Our high-tech filtration solutions deliver enhanced filtration with unmatched reliability to create a slurry with consistently excellent fluid properties.

Esterification Process

During esterification, gels and hard contaminants can form as the initial TiO2 slurry is processed through vessels of decreasing pressures and increasing temperatures. These impurities must be adequately filtered as they can directly lead to a dramatically reduced fiber quality. Our customizable Dynalloy metal fiber filter uses a hard-sintered true random fiber medium with tapered pore geometry for maximum gel capture and improved melt quality. Absolute rated, cleanable, and with Ultipleat geometry, Pall polymer candle solutions are guaranteed to provide   a long on-stream life while enabling continuous operation.

Melt Polymer

Short pack filter life and the subsequent spin breaks requiring restringing of fiber positions during the melt polymer filter changeover can be a costly disruption. Pall’s Dynalloy metal fiber filter uses CPF technology and patented diverter valves for transparent shifts that eliminate pressure spikes and spin breaks. This melt polymer filtration solution also features Pall’s Ultipleat polymer candle design that has significantly more filter area in comparison to traditional fan pleat design, which enables longer on-stream life. Pall CPF technology has been at the forefront of the polyester industry with numerous references and case studies across the world.
